Why is it used in products?

It acts as a lightweight skin conditioner and helps improve the texture of lotions and creams.

Why does it clog pores?

Like its cousin isopropyl linolate, this ester deposits a lipid layer inside follicles that blocks sebum drainage. It also enhances the penetration of other comedogenic ingredients in a formula. Dermatological studies rate it as a moderate comedogenic risk.
