What is Laminaria Longicruris?
A long-stalked kelp native to the Northwest Atlantic, used in cosmetics for its mineral-rich extract.
Why is it used in products?
It's valued for its high concentration of laminarin and fucoidan, used in anti-aging and skin-firming products.
Why does it clog pores?
Like all Laminaria species, this kelp is rich in iodides that irritate the follicular epithelium and trigger acne. Its polysaccharides form a sticky residue on skin that blocks normal pore function. The high mineral load can also disrupt the skin's natural balance.
