What is Petroleum?
A semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons derived from crude oil, most commonly known as petroleum jelly or petrolatum.
Why is it used in products?
It's one of the most effective occlusive moisturizers available, locking in virtually 100% of moisture and protecting damaged skin.
Why does it clog pores?
Petroleum creates an impenetrable barrier over the skin that completely seals pore openings. Nothing gets in, but nothing gets out either — sebum, dead cells, and bacteria become trapped inside follicles. While dermatologists debate its comedogenicity, unrefined petroleum is undeniably pore-clogging for acne-prone skin.
