PPG 2 Myristyl Propionate
What is PPG 2 Myristyl Propionate?
A polypropylene glycol ether ester of myristyl alcohol and propionic acid, used as a lightweight emollient.
Why is it used in products?
It provides a silky, non-greasy emollient effect and is used to improve the sensory profile of skincare and makeup products.
Why does it clog pores?
The myristyl alcohol component is comedogenic on its own, and the PPG ether structure helps it adhere to and penetrate into pore openings. It deposits a thin but persistent lipid film inside follicles that impedes sebum flow. It's rated as comedogenic in dermatological testing.
