What is Rosehip Oil?
A pressed oil from the seeds of wild rose bushes (Rosa canina or Rosa rubiginosa), high in linoleic acid, vitamin A, and vitamin C.
Why is it used in products?
It's a beloved facial oil for its skin-brightening, scar-fading, and anti-aging properties, widely recommended in natural skincare.
Why does it clog pores?
While rosehip oil is lower on the comedogenic scale than many oils, it can still clog pores in sensitive, acne-prone skin. Its emollient nature forms a light film that may trap bacteria and dead cells over time. Oxidized rosehip oil (which turns rancid quickly) is especially irritating to follicles.
