What is Sulfated Jojoba Oil?

Jojoba oil that has been treated with sulfuric acid to make it water-dispersible, while retaining some of jojoba's skin-conditioning properties.

Why is it used in products?

It combines jojoba's emollient benefits with water solubility, making it useful in aqueous formulations that want a jojoba marketing claim.

Why does it clog pores?

Even though regular jojoba oil is relatively non-comedogenic, the sulfation process changes its molecular structure in ways that increase pore-clogging potential. The sulfated compound irritates the follicular lining and leaves a residue that blocks pore openings. The chemical modification essentially turns a skin-friendly oil into a comedogenic one.
