What is Wheat Germ Glyceride?

A glycerol ester derived from wheat germ oil, providing the nutrients of wheat germ in a more formulation-friendly form.

Why is it used in products?

It delivers the vitamin E and fatty acid benefits of wheat germ oil with better emulsifying and texture properties.

Why does it clog pores?

Wheat germ glyceride carries the same comedogenic fatty acid profile as wheat germ oil, including high oleic acid content. The glyceride form creates a persistent lipid film on skin that blocks pore openings. Like wheat germ oil, it's also prone to oxidation, and the oxidation byproducts further irritate follicular walls.
